Bizarre curriculum at U.S. universities

As students frantically switch out of classes they determined are way too hard for their final quarter at UWT, here are a sample of classes from around the nation that may call out to those who are overworked and undersocialized. These are real classes from accredited universities, mind you. Enjoy daydreaming of simpler times and nerdy fantasies actualized by indulging yourself in one of these guaranteed GPA boosters.
University: Alfred University
Class Course Name: Maple Syrup
Class Description: In this class students will explore the history of maple syrup production, and discover the ins and outs of making maple syrup. Also students will create and eat some of these sweet confections, and take field trips to local producers, restaurants, and festivals.
University: Rochester Institute of Technology
Class Course Name: Underwater Basket Weaving
Class Description: In this class students will unwind in a unique atmospheric utopia, while enjoying the undertakings of underwater basket-weaving.
University: University of California, Berkeley
Class Course Name: The Strategy of StarCraft
Class Description: This class uses StarCraft to teach the art of war, and discusses the strategy and tactics in this well-known game. It is a student-led program in Berkeley’s alternative education program.
University: Centre College
Class Course Name: Myth and Science Fiction: Star Wars, The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings
Class Description: This class focuses on contemporary epics, that feature not only the study of “Star Wars”, “The Matrix”, and “The Lord Of The Rings”, but they also discuss television shows like “Stargate”, “Dr.Who”, and even “Star Trek”. The course tries to relate modern day tales to classical myths.
University: University of Alabama at Birmingham
Class Course Name: Harry Potter: Ethics and Imagination.
Class Description: The class, an English 400-level, dissects all of the books and their summaries, symbolism, and the socio-ethics of both the wizarding and Muggle worlds. Who can imagine taking an exam on Hogwarts History? Many fans would likely jump at the chance.
University: Michigan State University
Class Course Name: Surviving the Coming Zombie Apocalypse: Catastrophes & Human Behavior.
Class Description: This class draws attention to the hypothetical and discusses historical cataclysmic events, which have an overall impact on the personal, societal, and global levels. This “walking-dead” inspired course is supposed to be a “catastrophic event simulation,” and if you survive this class, you pass the course.
