Living an environmentally conscious life doesn't have to be expensive or impractical: And one woman proved that by parking her house in the middle of campus.

Dee Williams' 84 square-foot home , which she built herself, hitches to the back of her pick-up. She parked it on campus as a feature in the 2008 Sustainability Summit, held in the GWP building on Feb. 9.

The house is made mostly of recyclable materials and cost about $10,000 to make.

"Take a look at this door," Williams said, pulling shut a carved wood door with glossed cherry finish. "I got this out of a dumpster," the Olympia woman said.

"I can see how it wouldn't be practical for some people to live here," Williams said. "But it's great for me and a certain percentage of the population.
