Associated Students of UWT President Nick Bubb and Vice-President Noah Schmidt are looking to fill the remaining five vacant seats on the Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC).

SAFC is a committee of seven volunteer students who review proposals for funding from various student-run organizations, and then decide who gets what, on a quarterly basis, based on the organization’s need.

"This job makes the greatest direct impact on students," Schmidt said, "because it deals directly with money."

The two students who are currently serving on SAFC have done a bulk of the research required to make the necessary decisions, but don’t want to vote on anything without full membership.

"While they could simply pass the proposals through alone," Schmidt said, "They [the students] don’t believe that it would be ethical for only two students to make those decisions for the entire school."

Applications for the positions are currently being accepted, they can be found at www.tacoma.washington.edu/uwtlife/safc/policies_procedures.pdf, along with information about the organization as a whole. More information can also be found in the ASUWT office in MAT 103.
