Tahoma West, the literary
journal for the University of
Washington, Tacoma, will be
holding their official release
event on May 23 from 6 p.m.
to 8 p.m. The event will take
place on the UWT campus, in
the Tacoma Room. It will be a
night of literary and visual art,
in which this years contributors
will have the opportunity to
share their pieces and be recognized
for their work.
Tahoma West exemplifies
the ideas and creativity
of UWT students, faculty and
alumni. The journal serves
as a vessel for many talents
to publish their work, whether
that is poetry, fiction pieces,
non-fiction pieces or art. Each
year the staff of the journal
goes through a rigorous process
in order to make sure that
the annual release is a great
success.
"Many hours have gone into
the preparation for this year's
journal. There is a lot of fun
involved, but the majority of
it is downright hard work,"
said Marcy Ward, production
editor.
Unlike previous years, this
year the staff and contribu-tors are honored to have the
opportunity to invite a published
author, Amy Webb, as
a guest speaker to the release
event. Webb is from Emporia
University and will have a
piece of her work published
in this year's journal, as well
as an interview that was conducted
by UWT students.
The Tahoma West staff are
looking forward to seeing their
finished product released after
all the long hours and dedication
put forth in the production
of the journal.
"I consider this year's journal
a portfolio piece for myself,
as well as for the General Editor,
Lisa Kurvilla. We are very
proud of the finished product,"
said Ward.
