The University of Washington, Tacoma administration announced April 7 that one of the universities's most respected and accomplished faculty members, Dr. Bill Richardson, will be leaving UWT.
Richardson, who is the director of the interdisciplinary arts and science program, will be moving on to Coastal Carolina University, where he accepted the position of dean of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
"Bill has been a tremendous force and a stabilizing influence at UWT for the past sixteen years," UWT Chancellor Patricia Spakes said. "As both a faculty member and an administrator, Bill has helped build the campus from a tiny faculty of 13 in 1990 to its current size, pioneered many new, innovative interdisciplinary programs, hired, trained and mentored countless faculty and staff. And, he did this amidst difficult budgets, administrative changes and enrollment uncertainties."
The UWT administration is currently searching for an interim director for interdisciplinary arts and sciences. Richardson's last day as a Husky has not been determined yet.
