Johnson accepted the award from Mark Crisson, director of utilities for the City of Tacoma and last year's winner, before a standing room-only audience.

"A few of us get the credit for the work of others," said Johnson, thanking his wife and the people with whom he works. "We can't do this all by ourselves."

Johnson is a highly respected leader noted for his ethical standards and business practices as well as his commitment to community.

A 31-year employee with Simpson Kraft, Johnson believes that community service is good business. He models this value through his service as past chair of the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Pierce County, as well as through hundreds of hours given to charitable organizations.
